Chris Sutton drops Leeds United promotion verdict amid Leicester City ‘Wobble’
Chris Sutton believes Leeds United are “sure” to earn automatic promotion back to the Premier League after Leicester City’s recent struggles.
The Whites have moved to the top of the Championship after their 2-0 win over Millwall on Sunday, successfully closing the gap at the top from 17 points in just three months.
The Foxes have a game in hand as it stands after they crashed out of the FA Cup with a 4-2 defeat to Chelsea, but they have managed just one win in their last five games in the league and Sutton admits he wouldn’t rule Ipswich out of the running for automatic promotion, but believes Leeds have got it sewn up.
“Leicester are having such a wobble,” Sutton told Robbie Savage while live BBC Radio 606 (18 March). “I wouldn’t count against Ipswich going up automatically.
“Leeds are going to get there automatically, I’m sure of that, but who’s going to be the other one?”
Leeds United must stay focused for promotion
Football is a crazy sport and fans have already seen how quickly things can change in a short space of time.
Just a few months ago Leicester were considered to be the runaway champions of the Championship and there was talk about how they were going to cope in the top flight next season.
But now a short run of bad form has seen them dragged back into the race with several other teams and things no longer look so sure for the Foxes.

Leeds must pay close attention to that, because a similar thing could just as easily happen to them and with so little time remaining in the season it would be very difficult to make up any ground that is lost.
As cliche and boring as it is, Daniel Farke and his players must take it just one game at a time and find a way to get over the line with the motivation of being crowned champions now an extra factor.
