Chris Kamara responds when asked if 23-goal striker would fit in at Leeds

Chris Kamara has rubbished the notion of Leeds United wanting to sign Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic due to Marcelo Bielsa’s style of play.

Mitrovic, 25, has lit up the Championship this season by scoring 23 goals in 36 games for Fulham.

However the Serbia international reminded everyone why he can be a liability at times when he elbowed Leeds’ Ben White last month.

The ex-Newcastle striker is now serving a three-match ban after the incident went unnoticed in the game at Elland Road.

Sky Sports pundit Kamara has been asked whether Bielsa would want Mitrovic at Leeds but he does not see a deal happening due to the Argentine’s tactics.

“With the movement that Bielsa has, probably not, no,” Kamara told Sky Sports, as quoted by LeedsLive.

“He wouldn’t want one static player in there. He does indeed (work hard), but he’s down the middle. The change of positions, they do things in waves.

“That’s why at times they need a breather. They will all squeeze and push the opposition as far back as they can. They’ll do that wave after wave after wave and then they will need a breather.

“Then the opposition come at them for one or two attacks then they regroup. That’s why I think the break for them has been brilliant, to get their legs back, to get their second wind.

“They train as hard as they played.”

Let’s say Mitrovic would fit in perfectly with Bielsa’s tactics – would we still want him?

Even though White is only going to be a Leeds player for another month and Mitrovic has scored bags of goals this season, we would not want him anywhere near Elland Road.

It was such a thuggish thing to do to White last month and we do not want Leeds to be associated with any player who does something like that. White could have been seriously hurt and there was clear intent by the Fulham striker.

White then kept Mitrovic out of the match with a stunning defensive effort and we cannot see how the Serbian striker will be able to do much better in the Premier League if a top-flight club snaps him up.

Leeds might need to upgrade Patrick Bamford ahead of next season but we, like Kamara, do not see Mitrovic being considered any time soon.
