Chris Brunt: Stuart Dallas has been top player for Northern Ireland in last five years

Chris Brunt has insisted that Leeds United star Stuart Dallas has been one of Northern Ireland’s top performers over the last five years.

The Whites star is away once again this week and was impressive despite the 2-0 defeat against Switzerland where his side were down to 10-men for most of the clash.

Brunt believes that Dallas has proved himself more than capable at the highest level of the Premier League at Elland Road.

Speaking on Sky Sports over the weekend, Brunt admitted that there has been no one better on the international stage for his country.

“Stuey has been a top, top player since he broke through at Brentford,” he said “He has moved on to Leeds and he has proved himself and that he can play on the highest level in the Premier League.

“He has been one of our top performers for the last four or five years internationally, wherever he is asked to play as well.

“It’s great for a manager to have somebody like that. He can drop into two or three different positions when they are struggling.”

Top.

There is a familiar theme wherever Dallas plays, and that is he is classed as a top player no matter which shirt he pulls on.

Marcelo Bielsa hasn’t relied on anyone more than the versatile star during his time at Elland Road, and it reflects in his performances.

Dallas has played at left and right back, in central midfield, all of which while starting as a winger and stagnating before El Loco arrived at the club.

No one could have predicted this meteoric rise in performances, but Dallas has become one of our most important players without question in the Premier League.

That responsibility doubles while on international duty, with the Whites star surrounded by inexperience and with respect, lesser talented players.
