Chris Armas is set for new Leeds United staff role, it is undecided under Javi Gracia
Chris Armas has been retained by Leeds United and is due to be offered a new staff role under Javi Gracia, which is yet to be decided, according to the Training Ground Guru.
The American only arrived at Elland Road in January to join former colleague Jesse Marsch as his assistant before being part of the caretaker coaching team alongside Michael Skubala and Paco Gallardo in the last three Premier League games.
Since then, Skubala has been elevated to a role within the first-team setup alongside new manager Javi Gracia, while Gallardo replaced him as the Under-21s boss.

In the wake of Gracia’s appointment, the Training Ground Guru (Friday 24 February) wrote: “However, Chris Armas, who joined as assistant in January, has been retained by the club and will be given a new role, which is yet to be decided.
“Like Sharp, Armas also worked under Rangnick at Manchester United last season.”

Strange
Armas’ short stint at Leeds has not been short of mystery and confusion.
Why the board allowed Marsch to bring in a new assistant in the aftermath of Chris Jackson’s departure to MK Dons was an interesting decision, considering they only sacked him a few weeks later, and this latest development throws more doubt into his future at Elland Road.
The mysterious announcement that he doesn’t have a specific role yet looks like Armas doesn’t actually fit into any of the regimes at Leeds, but the club felt bad about sacking him only a month after hiring him. If Gracia really wanted him in his first-team coaching staff, he would have been included alongside Skubala – but this clearly isn’t the case.
With Gallardo taking the reins for the Under-21s, there don’t look to be many options remaining for Armas to fill. A man of his pedigree and experience may well decide to find pastures greener after the debacle that has taken place over the last month.
In other Leeds United news, the club is now eyeing a golden opportunity to sign a 140-goal striker in the summer.
