Chelsea confident of signing Leeds United star Raphinha despite agent meeting with Barcelona
The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the club in the ongoing transfer window.
Media reports in the last couple of days suggested that the Blues have all but sealed the deal after agreeing to a transfer fee with Leeds.
On Thursday, new reports emerged of a meeting between Raphinha’s agent Deco and executives of the Catalan-based clubs.
However, Lugassi on his Twitter account, reported that the Chelsea camp are still optimistic about securing the signature of the Brazil international.
Trademark Premier League winger
If Leeds still have a Premier League status going into next season, Raphinha is one of the biggest reasons for that.
When the backline of the Whites couldn’t deal with the force of the clubs in the Premier League because of injuries, the Brazil international was quick to step up to the plate and deliver when it mattered.
In the recently concluded season, the 25-year-old played 35 Premier League games, scoring 11 goals and providing three assists.
He contributed to 33% of the overall Premier League goals scored by the Whites and started 89% of his Premier League matches [Transfermarkt].
Those numbers show why he is absolutely adored by the Leeds fans and it is clear to see why there is despair amongst the fan base to see their star player leave the club. However, if the deal goes through, the Whites’ top-tier management will have a mammoth task at hand to replace arguably their best attacking player.
In other Leeds United news, the club have now opened talks with an ‘Incredible’ title-winning central midfielder to replace Kalvin Phillips.
