Che Adams to Leeds United verdict shared by pundit as Southampton exit edges closer
Carlton Palmer could potentially see Che Adams leaving Southampton in the January transfer window after being linked with Leeds United.
TEAMtalk reported on 22 May that Everton and Leeds are both interested in the 26-year-old who looks set to depart St Mary’s.
Palmer has since reacted to the rumour and has suggested that the new manager on the South Coast may want to keep him in the building.
“Both of these clubs could be plying their trade in the Championship next season,” said Palmer (Football League World, 26 May).
“He has a year left on his contract, [but] I think any new manager would want to keep him in the building for now, given he scored 22 goals for Birmingham in the 2018/19 season.
“I think you would go to the January transfer window, and make a decision on his future depending on how he is doing, and how the season is going on a whole for the club.”

Stay up, then talk
Leeds need to stay up and then discuss potential transfers. Until they know their league status, chatter about transfers is fairly redundant. The Championship will require a completely different wage structure and transfer targets.
If the Whites were a Premier League club, Adams would suddenly become a very attainable addition for whoever is in charge next season.
All will become clear after this weekend’s clash against Tottenham. Anything but a win will see the Whites return to the second tier. Sam Allardyce has worked miracles in the past, however, keeping Leeds in the Premier League would probably rank at the top of his managerial achievements.
The odds are firmly against his side on Sunday, but anything is possible on the final day. An early goal could change the whole picture. The nerves could grow at Goodison Park if Leeds can get on the scoresheet. The pressure is off the Whites. Let’s hope the players finally deliver when it matters most.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that an international player at Elland Road has no place at the club next season and a summer transfer is on the cards.
