Charlie Taylor sends warning to Leeds ahead of Burnley clash at Elland Road

Leeds United have been warned by former defender Charlie Taylor that his Burnley side will not be daunted by the trip to Elland Road on Sunday.

Unbeaten in their last four games, Burnley head into the fixture in confident form, conceding only twice in that period.

Their hosts, meanwhile, are still smarting after their 6-2 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Taylor, a Leeds academy graduate, made over 100 appearances for the Whites before making the move to Lancashire in 2017.

Speaking to Burnley’s Clarets Plus, Taylor said “Leeds was a huge part of my career.

“I spent nearly 12-13 years there and I have never been back since I left.

“We know all about Leeds and how they play and what to expect really so we will be going there confident and hopefully we can carry on our form.”

Time to start accruing vital points

The game against Burnley marks the beginning of a run of Premier League fixtures that Bielsa will hope can yield a strong number of points.

After the visit of 16th place Burnley, Leeds head to the Hawthorns to face West Brom, who currently sit in 19th with a solitary victory to their name.

A tough trip to Tottenham follows, before they face another struggling side in the shape of Brighton. Sandwiched between these two games is an FA Cup third-round fixture at Crawley Town.

With 13 goals conceded in their last four games, Bielsa will expect a much sterner defence against Burnley and West Brom, particularly given the attacking deficiencies of both sides.

Burnley are the joint lowest scorers in the Premier League (eight – with Sheffield United), while West Brom do not fare much better with a meagre 10 goals.

While Leeds fans might accept their gung-ho approach can cause difficulties against elite opposition, they will demand more resolve against teams operating at the bottom end of the table.

In other Leeds United news, Bielsa left unimpressed at Patrick Bamford question.
