Charlie Cresswell update emerges at Leeds United for clash v Norwich after Elland Road car crash
Leeds United defender Charlie Cresswell was involved in a car crash with a police car ahead of the Whites’ playoff clash with Norwich City, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The outlet reported on its website (16 May) that the centre-back was making his way to Elland Road on Thursday (16 May) morning and after the incident, a police officer was treated for minor injuries.
Cresswell remained unharmed despite the fact both cars sustained significant damage and the England youth international is expected to play some part in the second leg of Leeds’ playoff clash against Norwich.
A police spokesperson was quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post, as saying: “At 10.13am today (Thursday), police were notified of a collision involving a police car and a Land Rover Defender on Elland Road, Leeds.
“An officer received medical treatment for minor injuries. No other injuries were reported. Enquiries are ongoing.”
This incident comes only a month after Whites keeper Kristoffer Klaesson was hospitalised after he crashed his car into a barrier in Norway. Luckily the stopper also didn’t sustain any injuries and has returned to action at Thorp Arch.
Will Charlie Cressswell be fit to feature for Leeds United v Norwich City?
Daniel Farke and the rest of his Leeds United team will have liley been slightly frustrated by this distraction ahead of their biggest game of the season, but these sorts of incidents cannot be helped sometimes.
The good news from a Whites’ perspective is the fact that Cresswell has not sustained any injuries. While he hasn’t been a regular this season, it is good that he is fit and available to feature against the Canaries if needed.

Farke will almost certainly continue with the centre-back pairing of Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu that has served him well so far this season, but should either star pick up an injury, the young defender will be one of the first called upon.
Hopefully, nothing more will come of this minor collision and Leeds won’t have to deal with any more off-the-field drama in the closing days of the campaign. The playoffs are stressful enough for everyone involved without this thrown in.
