Charlie Austin blown away by video clip as Marcelo Bielsa footage emerges after Leeds United exit
Charlie Austin has paid tribute to Marcelo Bielsa after seeing footage of the manager’s departure from Leeds United on Sunday.
Fans gathered outside Thorp Arch at the weekend to bid farewell to Bielsa with many sharing images and videos of the Argentine’s final interactions with the supporters.
QPR striker Austin has reacted to a video of Bielsa on Sunday night in which he’s seen signing autographs and speaking to Leeds fans.
And Austin feels that Bielsa really is one of a kind based on his relationship with the Leeds fanbase.
“Not even a Leeds fan but after seeing all the videos over the last few days, [it] speaks volumes of this man,” said Austin via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday [2 March].
“Not many managers would be interacting with fans after losing his job, he made a bang average Leeds side into a Premier League team, who won the Championship at a canter!”
One of a kind
When is the last time a club in the Premier League had a manager touch the fanbase like Bielsa did at Leeds?
Sure, you have Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger and right now, there’s Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp who’ll be held in high esteem by Manchester City and Liverpool respectively.
They’ll all be legendary managers – but have any of those four managers grown as close to a fanbase as Bielsa has done at Leeds?
He doesn’t even speak English to the media but the Argentine’s actions speak louder than any words do.
He not only did a superb job in charge of the Whites but he also showed how humble, caring and passionate he is away from his day job.
Bielsa is a legend and there’s honestly been no other manager quite like him in our memory.
Jesse Marsch, bless him, has massive shoes to fill.
In other Leeds United news, Ally McCoist is staggered by an “unbelievable” situation the Whites have found themselves in.
