Charlie Adam: Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier could join Tottenham in the future
Charlie Adam has suggested that Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier could join Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the future.
Speaking on Stadium Astro (8 October), the talkSPORT pundit has suggested that Spurs need a new goalkeeper to replace Hugo Lloris, and they should check out young talents.
When asked whether Meslier could be an option, Adam said that he could be a “possibility”.
“It will be interesting which level they go to, in terms of who they want to buy. I would go for someone younger, who can progress and be there for a long time, then nurture themselves to be at Spurs for a long time and be at the club for six, seven or eight years.
“Like Arsenal went with Ramsdale, they took a risk, but it’s paid off because he’s a top goalkeeper. Maybe go buy a Jordan Pickford or something like that?
“[On Meslier]. Possibly. He’s a young kid, that’s had a couple of years of experience and made mistakes in the Premier League. But Bielsa backed him. Jesse Marsch has backed him, and that’s confidence so someone like Meslier could be the one for Tottenham in the future.”

Tough
Kevin Campbell, another pundit on that show, added that it would be really tough for Spurs to lure Meslier away from Leeds at the moment.
The French goalkeeper has established himself as the first-choice keeper at the club, and he is getting better and better with time.
Jesse Marsch has complete faith in him, and the Whites are not looking to sell him. He has a contract at the club until 2026, and it will require a huge sum to lure him away.
The Tottenham skipper is declining and they need to replace him at some point. Jordan Pickford is another player who the pundits on the show feel that Spurs could sign.
Spurs signed Fraser Forster as a back-up option, but he is surely not a long-term option for the club. In theory, Meslier’s profile should attract Spurs.
The 22-year-old is brave and has got Premier League experience. Meslier has kept a clean sheet twice this season.
Meslier doesn’t appear to make big errors, but the way Leeds approach their game, the defence gets wide open most of the time, leaving the goalkeeper brutally exposed.
