Charles De Ketelaere missed Club Brugge fixture as Leeds United bid remains on the table - Fabrizio Romano

Club Brugge forward Charles de Ketelaere didn’t play a single minute of his side’s Super Cup clash on Sunday amid interest from Leeds United, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Guardian journalist wrote on Twitter on Sunday (17 July) that De Ketelaere, 21, “didn’t play one single minute in the [Super Cup] game between Club Brugge and Gent” with AC Milan in talks to sign him.

Romano suggests that Leeds’ bid from two weeks ago remains on the table for the Belgium international but Milan are leading the race for his signature as he’s rather make the move to the San Siro.

Big deal

Leeds are going through a mixed transfer window where they have signed more than six players but have already lost two stars Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha to Manchester City and Barcelona.

Even though there can be a debate about which was would be a bigger loss for the Whites going into the next campaign, they’ve already signed more than one player to replace Phillips.

One of the players they have shown a lot of interest in to replace Raphinha’s creativity and goals, despite already signing Luis Sinisterra, is De Ketelaere but with not much success.

With the player looking reluctant to move to Elland Road, but looking at the Belgium international’s performances, it seems that the efforts are still worth it.

In the previous campaign, the 21-year-old was instrumental for Club Brugge where he managed to score 18 goals and provided 10 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions [Transfermarkt].

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are on the verge of winning the race to sign this player amid a £96,000-a-week development.
