CBS journalist fumes at Leeds United news as Rodrigo ruled out for 2 months with injury
CBS journalist Jake Winderman was absolutely gutted to learn that Leeds will be without Rodrigo for the next two months due to an ankle injury.
The Spain international picked up “ligament and bone damage” in the FA Cup clash against Accrington Stanley and a club announcement on Thursday (2 February) revealed that he would be out of action until April.
As the club’s top scorer this season he is set to be a huge miss for the team, and Winderman admitted that the news “absolutely sucks”, but backed Patrick Bamford to step up to the plate in his absence.
“Oh man, this news just absolutely sucks,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (2 February).
“Rodrigo was in his best stretch of form since coming to Leeds United. He had been in the goals, more often than not, and was doing such a better job of controlling the game and build-up play.
“It is officially Bamford’s time to shine.”

There is no doubt that Rodrigo is going to be a huge miss, having scored ten goals in the Premier League and 12 in all competitions this season.
But if there is one position where Leeds are stacked with options and game changers, it’s attack and this should be the chance for someone else to step in and state their case for a starting spot.
Bamford went the entirety of 2022 without a goal but he has scored twice in three games so far this year, while Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto have really stepped up this season too.
Then you also have Luis Sinisterra, Jack Harrison, Brenden Aaronson and new signing Georginio Rutter to pick from too, so Jesse Marsch shouldn’t have any problems finding goals in his team while Rodrigo is out.
Leeds have got plenty to look forward to and while Rodrigo’s injury is a problem in the short-term, there is most definitely a silver lining to the problem that they’re facing.
In other Leeds news, Rodrigo’s injury may have saved one other Elland Road man’s career.
