CBS journalist blasts Leeds United star Patrick Bamford after performance in loss v Everton

Patrick Bamford has been blasted by CBS journalist Jake Winderman for his performance in Leeds United’s defeat to Everton on Saturday (18 February).

Bamford failed to score throughout the entirety of 2022, but scored three times in two appearances last month before Jesse Marsch was sacked.

He has failed to score since however despite starting regularly since his return from injury, and Winderman took to his personal Twitter account to admit that the former England international looks like a “shell of himself” and that he misses Rodrigo.

“Patrick Bamford looks like a shell of himself,” he wrote (18 February). “I really miss Rodrigo.”

Rodrigo was ruled out for several months with an ankle injury last month following the FA Cup win over Accrington Stanley.

Goals

Leeds have had some issues this season, but scoring goals hasn’t really been one of them until recent weeks.

Jesse Marsch had a way of spreading the goals around his squad, but Rodrigo managed to hit double figures before his injury and now that gaping hole in the squad is there for all to see.

Leeds United

Bamford’s injuries have long been an issue at Elland Road, and the arrivals of Luis Sinisterra, Willy Gnonto, Brenden Aaronson and Georginio Rutter were supposed to help alleviate that.

But Sinisterra has had his own injury issues, Aaronson has struggled to really make an impact after an initially strong start and Rutter has failed to hit the ground running since his January move.

If Leeds are going to get out of this mess however, they absolutely need to find a new source of goals and quickly, because they simply cannot rely on Bamford to do it anymore.
