Carlton Palmer believes agents will drum up interest in Leeds attacker Raphinha
Carlton Palmer believes Raphinha will be a wanted man if he continues putting in thrilling performances for Leeds United.
The Brazilian moved to Elland Road last summer and has been an exceptional signing for Marcelo Bielsa.
He has been one of the first names on the team sheet for the Argentine and looks terrifying whenever he starts.
Discussing a potential transfer away from Yorkshire, Palmer told Transfer Tavern, “If you’re a player that’s playing well, clubs are always going to be talking about you and you’re always going to be linked with clubs, whether that’s newspapers, whether that’s your agent putting it out there, that’s what they do, that’s how agents get their players a move, they put it out there that he’s making his debut for Brazil and try to raise his profile to get him a move.
“That’s par for the course now. What he’s got to do is keep playing consistently well for Leeds United.”
Raphinha, along with Kalvin Phillips, is the hottest product at the club and one Bielsa desperately would want to hold on to.
The Argentine would hate losing a player of the Brazilian’s calibre, but if he continues performing at this level, big clubs may come in for him.
Given the kind of money some of these big clubs can offer, it may be hard for the Whites to turn down their offers.
Even Raphinha may have aspirations of playing in the Champions League, so it could be tricky to keep a hold of him.
Victor Orta must tie him down to a new deal, give him a salary hike and then if anyone wants him, he’s in a strong position to demand a record-breaking transfer fee.
