Carlton Palmer awestruck by senior Leeds figure with massive reputation

Carlton Palmer has claimed that it is no shock that Marcelo Bielsa has enjoyed success with Leeds United.

El Loco has entered his third year at Elland Road and was the man to mastermind the Whites’ return to the Premier League after 16 years away.

Leeds have started the Premier League well, but their recent stutter has led to some question marks over their fast-paced style.

Palmer believes that Andrea Radrizzani has given Bielsa all the tools needed to succeed, but he has more than proven his worth with this squad.

“That’s not a shock that he’s come to the English league and is doing well,” he told Football FanCast.

“His reputation precedes him. He’s a very good manager and a very good coach. You know what you’ve got to remember when you’re a manager or coach –you can only be a good manager and a good coach if you have the tools to do your job.”

Palmer is saying the obvious, but it has come at a good time given that other pundits have started to share their doubts.

Radrizzani has given Bielsa the tools when you look at the severe upgrades at Thorp Arch for him to work with.

The Italian opened back up the swimming pool built sleeping quarters and a new running track, and all of those things have helped.

Where Bielsa deserves credit is his work with the squad. The majority of the side that are currently in the Premier League were here when he arrived in West Yorkshire.

Three years ago, the likes of Stuart Dallas would never have dreamed of Premier League, and now he is one of the best players in his position stats-wise.

Bielsa is definitely to thank for all of this.
