Carlos Corberan discusses Lewis O’Brien’s future amid ongoing Leeds talk

Carlos Corberan has been speaking about Lewis O’Brien in his latest press conference as Leeds United continue to be linked with a move for the Huddersfield Town midfielder, according to YorkshireLive.

The former Whites Under-23s boss claimed that he knows there is “speculation around Lewis” and that “he is a fantastic player” before finally adding that the Terriers “want to keep” the 22-year-old.

However, a report from Leeds Live claimed that Marcelo Bielsa was in attendance on Sunday as Huddersfield took on Sheffield Wednesday as he potentially took a closer look at O’Brien.

Will Leeds sign O’Brien?

Given that the Whites don’t have that many options in central midfield, signing someone like O’Brien could be just what is needed.

He is only 22, so he is young and given Bielsa’s reputation for developing players, this could be the perfect move for him [Planet Football].

Last season in the Championship, he averaged two tackles and one interception per game. This would have put him in second place for tackles and third place for interceptions when compared with Leeds’ other central midfielders [WhoScored].

Even though the quality of the Championship is much lower than the Premier League, these are still impressive statistics and would be valuable attributes in this Leeds side.

Corberan sounds determined to keep O’Brien, but with the Terriers asking for £10million, he might not have much say in the matter should Leeds come up with the money required to take O’Brien to Elland Road [Alan Nixon].

This certainly could be a transfer story to keep an eye on, and for the price, he could be a brilliant addition to Leeds’ squad.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are going to face a fierce battle if they want to sign one of their top targets.
