Calvert-Lewin’s record vs Fulham as Daniel Farke forced into Leeds United rethink

Dominic Calvert-Lewin could be handed his full Leeds debut on Saturday.

Attackers have been the talk of the town over the last few weeks, with Leeds failing to add to their offensive options in the latter stages of the summer window.

That was a concern in itself, though fears were further amplified when Daniel Farke labelled Lukas Nmecha as a doubt for Saturday’s clash with Fulham.

Joel Piroe could also miss out with a minor calf injury, leaving Farke with very few options when it comes to picking a team at Craven Cottage.

Leeds need Calvert-Lewin off and running

Calvert-Lewin was dreadful in Leeds’ defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup, and if he is to thrive at Elland Road, his performances will need to improve significantly.

However, with a full month of training under his belt, the 28-year-old simply has to be ready to influence things in the Premier League, starting with Saturday’s encounter with Fulham.

While Calvert-Lewin‘s record as a whole recently hasnt been great, he has only ever lost once against Fulham in his career.

Predominantly with Everton, the Englishman has won three of the seven encounters with The Cottagers, scoring twice.

Albeit, both of those goals arrived in the same game, when Everton secured a 3-2 victory away to Fulham back in 2020.

How have Leeds fared vs Fulham in the past?

Dating back to 1920, these two sides have faced off against each other 63 times, with the Whites coming out on top on 26 occasions.

As for the most recent encounters, Fulham have won all three, with the latest one ending in a 2-1 victory back in 2023.

Ironically, it was Leeds-linked Harry Wilson on the scoresheet for the hosts on that occasion, with a Joao Palhinha own goal earning the Whites a consolation goal.

If Farke’s side are to get anything from Saturday’s clash, it is clear that they will need to take their chances, and it is certainly looking as though Calvert-Lewin will be the man tasked with doing that.
