Calvert-Lewin is too good for Leeds United as Bryn Law makes shock ‘big club’ claim

Dominic Calvert-Lewin got his first Leeds goal on Saturday.

Calvert-Lewin opened the scoring for Leeds with a powerful header against Wolves, showing fans exactly what he’s about.

Danny Murphy praised Calvert-Lewin on Match of the Day and was impressed with how physical the striker was when dealing with defenders.

The former Everton man put in his best performance to date in a Leeds shirt, and fans will be keen to see him continue this form.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin ‘shouldn’t be at Leeds

Calvert-Lewin spoke after the Wolves win, saying how the goal gave him confidence and how he will build on it.

Bryn Law, who works for LUTV, believes that the club are lucky to have a striker of his stature at Elland Road.

Speaking on The Square Ball [September 22], Law spoke about how Calvert-Lewin should be playing at the highest level: “Let’s be honest about this, he shouldn’t really be at Leeds, should he?

“His next move from Everton realistically should have been, I’ll say, ‘big club’ or abroad. To somebody big abroad.”

The former Sky Sports reporter also feels the Englishman is one of the best strikers Leeds have had in years: “You have actually still got a guy who has most definitely done the thing that you want your Premier League striker to do.

“We were saying that header he scores. I don’t think any lead striker of the last five/ten years possibly scores that.”

It is high praise for the striker, who will look to kick on and stay fit for the rest of the season.

Leeds will need Calvert-Lewin to survive Premier League

Leeds will hope that the 28-year-old will deliver up front as they look to maintain their Premier League status.

Calvert-Lewin’s fitness has been questioned before, and he has missed large chunks of time through injury.

Leeds need him to stay injury-free this season and hope he can lead the line with the authority he showed at the weekend.

If he can, the Whites should be confident of their Premier League survival, with a proven striker firing them to safety.
