Cagliari ready to reduce asking price of Leeds United target Nahitan Nandez

Leeds United are set for the hot pursuit of Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez as they ready a return for him, according to Calciomercato.it.

The Serie A outfit are ready to slash the asking price of the 25-year-old Uruguayan from £30.63million (€36million) to £22.13million (€26million), and are looking at a sale or loan move with an obligation to buy.

Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on Nandez, and the Whites have to battle them having been interested earlier in the transfer window.

Boost?

The chance to snap up the no-nonsense midfielder for £22million is a huge boost for his suitors, and Leeds should not hesitate to move in on him.

We can also bring Nandez in on loan and pay next summer – a similar deal we had with Manchester City for Jack Harrison – and there is no excuse for us now, except if the player rejects the chance to play for Marcelo Bielsa or decides to join a club playing in Europe.

Leeds midfield needs more grit and verve after Manchester United ran us ragged at Old Trafford in that 5-1 hiding on Saturday, and Nandez is the man for the job.

Sky Sports journalist Fabrizio Romano told Odds Checker last October that Bielsa has admired the Uruguayan since when he was at Boca Juniors, and the transfer links are not likely to go away anytime soon.

With Cagliari very much open to selling him from the look of things, this could be an opportunity for us to strengthen a department badly in need of quality additions.
