Business usual for Nuno Espirito Santo amid Leeds United interest to appoint him as next manager
Former Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo is still taking over the training of Al-Ittihad amid strong interest from Leeds United to bring him to Elland Road.
The Whites are looking to appoint their next permanent manager following the departure of Jesse Marsch, and Nuno is one of the candidates being reportedly considered.
According to the Daily Mail. (pg 72, 14 February), Nuno continues to be pushed for the vacant job at Elland Road after the Whites missed out on a host of targets including the likes of Alfred Schreuder and Marcelo Gallardo.
Al-Ittihad’s official Instagram shared pictures of their training sessions on Wednesday (15 February) where Nuno is pictured taking charge of the session.
With every passing day, it seems like Leeds are running out of options to appoint their next manager.
The Whites probably could not have anticipated this problem. The last time when they sacked Marcelo Bielsa, they were quick to appoint Marsch as a replacement.

However, they have found it really hard to appoint their next manager. They have made approaches to four or five managers already, but have been unsuccessful to lure them to Elland Road.
To be honest, Espirito Santo isn’t a name that will get the fan base overly excited. He has got Premier League experience and did well with Wolves, but looked totally out-of-depth at Tottenham.
While the Whites are happy to wait, they aren’t in a position to be picky right now. There aren’t enough top-quality managers at the moment, and it looks like the Portuguese boss is also out of reach.
The club should continue their search this week, but it appears that the caretaker boss, Michael Skubala, could be in a position to take charge of the club for the rest of the season.
As it stands, it is business as usual for Nuno. It is up to Victor Orta now to move quickly for him if the Whites really think he’s the man to take the club forward.
