Burnley v Leeds United postponement update amid Met Office weather warning

Leeds United’s match with Burnley looks set to go ahead as planned despite a Met Office weather warning currently being in place.

The Whites are due to travel to Turf Moor on Monday evening (27 January) for a top-of-the-table showdown with the Clarets.

The Met Office issued a new flood warning alert on Saturday morning (25 January) for the Lancashire area.

As for Monday itself, the weather will remain unsettled “with showers or longer spells of rain around”, while winds can also be expected.

However, given there is no yellow, amber or red alerts in place at this stage, the match looks set to go ahead as planned.

Storm Eowyn wreaking havoc on UK

Lancashire is one of a few areas around the United Kingdom that has a flood warning in place, but thankfully the worst of Storm Eowyn should have passed by the start of next week.

This is a game EFL chiefs will be desperate to see go ahead as planned given the magnitude of the contest.

Leeds will enter the game top of the table, one point ahead of Sheffield United following the Blades’ shock 3-0 home loss to Hull City on Friday (24 January).

Burnley are currently third, meanwhile, three points behind Daniel Farke’s men. Give Leeds’ superior goal difference, Farke’s side know a point would be a great result at Turf Moor.

United continue to be linked with an array of names, and it may well be that a new signing is in place in time for the Burnley game.

That would be a further boost for Farke, who has Leeds on course to achieve their only goal for the campaign: Promotion back to the Premier League.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have been urged not to sign a certain player.
