Rob Green has been blown away by the performances of Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier since his arrival at Elland Road.
The French youngster made a string of phenomenal saves in the 3-1 defeat against Chelsea, keeping the Whites in it at times.
Green admitted that he is “brilliant to watch”, claiming that he would receive higher praise in the media if he was English and in the Premier League.
Speaking to LUTV on their preview for the West Ham clash, Green was awestruck by the technical ability of the young Frenchman.
“It’s been an incredible start,” he said.
“To say he’s only 20-years-old and putting in the performances like he is is fantastic. It’s incredible to see. He’s technically very, very gifted.
“On the whole, it’s just brilliant to watch.”
Meslier’s performance in the Chelsea defeat was certainly one of his best.
Timo Werner was tormented all evening, and despite being humiliated for his miss in the first-half, it was the Whites stopper who actually deflected his effort onto the bar.
The young keeper made five saves with four of those reflex saves, and according to WyScout, he only misplaced one of his 27 passes at Stamford Bridge.
Green has been there and done it in the Premier League and on the international stage, so his praise proves that Leeds have found themselves a wonderkid.
For only £5million, Victor Orta secured a real bargain and this exposure in the Premier League is only making him better with each week.
