'Brilliant', 'Love it' – These Leeds fans absolutely loving Phil Hay tweet on last-gasp deal
The January transfer window was a very satisfactory one for Leeds United.
Three players wanted and three players signed by Leeds, all with days to go before the deadline.
Jean-Kevin Augustin is a brilliant replacement for Eddie Nketiah and shows the size of Leeds’ ambition.
However, it was made even better when it came out that Augustin had turned down a late and desperate bid from rivals Man United.
And it got much, much better on transfer deadline day itself when a desperate United turned to Watford reject Odin Ighalo at the very last minute.
Despite complications arising from the fact Ighalo was in China, United completed a late deal for the 30-year-old striker.
Athletic journalist and Leeds hero Phil Hay summed it up absolutely perfectly on his Twitter account and Leeds fans were loving it.
He said of the six-month loan deal with an option to buy, “This is wonderfully tinpot”.

Gary Neville once said that you can tell the clubs that are being run badly by the state of their transfer windows and this was desperate stuff from United.
Leeds fans were loving Hay’s words – and no wonder. The thought of being in the Premier League and above United next season is surely a very real one.
It wasn’t a great day for Leeds today after a 1-0 defeat to Wigan… but at least we’re not Man United.

Joyous to watch phillip. Waited a long time for their demise. Secretly hoping we put them to the sword next year. I've missed that fixture soooooooooooooooo much
