Brighton make approach to sign Leeds United forward Crysencio Summerville in January transfer window
Brighton & Hove Albion have approached Leeds United with an enquiry about a potential deal for star player Crysencio Summerville, according to Mail on Sunday.
The newspaper reported [31 December, page 84] that Brighton have already contacted Leeds and Norwich City amid interests in Summerville and Jonathan Rowe, respectively.
The 22-year-old has lit up with the Championship this season with the Whites, registering 11 goals and six assists in 22 appearances, with teammate Liam Cooper dubbing him an “unbelievable” talent.

Following a winning goal against Bournemouth last season in a 4-3 thriller, Cooper said: “We see it [his talent] day in, day out. Jesse has just been waiting for the chance to put him in, he’s been unbelievable.
“He’s got to keep pushing, keep striving. We’ll look after him. He’s going to go on and have an unbelievable career.”
When the Premier League comes knocking
Brighton are famous for finding unique talents from across the footballing world and developing them into forces of nature. Kaoru Mitoma is a prime example, joining from Kawasaki Frontale on a free transfer and setting the Premier League alight.
However, unlike these unknown talents, Summerville is a very well-known superstar. There is no surprise that the Leeds man is attracting interest from a Premier League outfit in the Seagulls.

The winger is the league’s fifth-highest scorer (11), with Sammie Szmodics out in front with 15 and Morgan Whittaker, Adam Armstrong and Jack Clarke all joined on 12.
Also boasting Premier League experience during Leeds’ short stay in the top flight, Summerville has proven himself on some of the biggest stages, with one of the most memorable probably his goal against Liverpool last season.
Current left-winger Mitoma has seen a drop in form this season and has suffered an injury that could keep him out until mid-February. A move for Summerville in the January transfer market could be a perfect solution for Roberto de Zerbi and an amazing signing moving forward.
In other Leeds United news, Lee Hendrie changed his mind live on Sky Sports over a decision made in the Whites’ loss to West Brom.
