Brighton do homework on deal for Leeds United attacker Crysencio Summerville as 2024 transfer development emerges
Brighton have done their homework on Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville in case they lose Kauro Mitoma, according to Alan Nixon.
The journalist shared on his Patreon (24 December) that the Premier League side are keeping an eye on the Whites attacker and have identified the Dutchman as a replacement should they lose Mitoma in 2024.
Brighton don’t want to lose the Japanese winger but are preparing alternatives and Summerville is one of those who have caught the eye. It would take a big fee to sign the Dutchman in January as he is considered “key” to Leeds’ promotion push.

But if Daniel Farke’s side miss out on promotion back to the Premier League this season, there is a chance that he could be allowed to depart Elland Road in the summer, come the end of the season.
Get promoted
The simple way for Leeds United to avoid this becoming a big transfer saga is to win promotion this season. If the Whites are in the Premier League, they won’t have to worry about Summerville jumping ship to a top-flight club as they’ll be up there with the likes of Brighton.
Leeds are unlikely to allow Summerville to depart in January unless the fee paid is absolutely ridiculous as he has been arguably their best player in the early stages of the campaign. Selling him would massively dent their hopes of promotion this season.

The nature of having some of the brightest talents in the Championship is that teams from the leagues above will notice them and be able to take them off of your hands. The test now for the Whites is whether they have the ability to fend off that interest and keep the Dutchman at Elland Road.
Hopefully, Farke will guide Leeds straight back to the top flight and all this speculation can blow over. At least supporters can rest easy knowing that it seems unlikely this deal will be completed in January so Summerville will be a Leeds player for a while yet.
