Brenden Aaronson to seek Leeds United exit soon as Fabrizio Romano shares transfer development
Brenden Aaronson will “explore his options soon” after Leeds United were relegated to the Championship, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The USA international has a relegation clause in his contract with the club, and now looks certain to be on the move this summer.
Aaronson only joined the Whites last summer in a high-profile switch from Red Bull Salzburg.

“There’s a relegation clause into Brenden Aaronson’s contract with Leeds and it is now active, confirmed,” Romano wrote on Twitter.
“Aaronson will explore options soon.”

Plenty of offers expected
Leeds will no doubt receive plenty of offers for Aaronson, even if the young American failed to have any real impact for his club this season.
It’s been a frustrating time for the 22-year-old, who hit the ground running at Elland Road with a well-taken goal against Chelsea in just the third match of the new Premier League season.
Unfortunately, that represents his one and only goal for the club, with Aaronson failing to shine in the final third under Jesse Marsch, Javi Gracia and Sam Allardyce this season.
The fact that he has a relegation clause in his contract meanwhile speaks volumes, with the player and his agent clearly predicting a difficult campaign for Leeds before the papers had been signed.
He won’t look back on his time at Elland Road too fondly, and neither will the fans, but it shouldn’t stop him from landing on his feet elsewhere next season.
