Brenden Aaronson not good enough for Leeds United v Swansea after what he did

Jon Newsome has ripped Brenden Aaronson to shreds after he failed to turn up for Leeds United in their 4-3 win against Swansea on Sunday.

The Whites went atop the Championship table after Willy Gnonto’s late goal gave them the win in Wales on 24 November, but Aaronson’s performance left much to be desired.

Newsome had to try hard not to make the BBC Radio Leeds’ Football Forum [24 November] an Aaronson bash show as he deemed the attacker as not good enough to wear the Leeds shirt.

“I’ve got to be really careful because I don’t want it to be the bash Brenden Aaronson show”, the former Whites defender said.

“But, we can only say as we see it and I just think there are way too many times he gives up possession, he loses the ball in areas where he doesn’t need to lose the ball.

“When you’re up a cul-de-sac and you’re working hard and you’re outnumbered, of course, it’s hard being out there and nobody is about.

“But, there are lots of times where I just think he’s got hold of the ball [and fluffed] simple passes, simple bits of awareness around him and I don’t think he’s at the level, in my honest opinion, I really don’t.

“He was bought as a Premier League player, paid £28million for him and I don’t think he’s good enough to play at this level, I don’t think he’s good enough to play in the Leeds United team really.”

Leeds United need more from Brenden Aaronson

It was great to see Leeds United go first in the Championship on Sunday, but Aaronson’s performance was indeed concerning.

The United States international notably lost possession 14 touches in the game, with only Jayden Bogle and Sam Byram faring worse among teammates [Sofascore].

Aaronson does not shy away from setting lofty goals for himself as he recently expressed his desire to grab 30 goals and assists for the Whites this season.

However, that feat may well be beyond his reach, having bagged just four goals and an assist in 16 appearances across all competitions so far.

Considering how careless he was in possession, it was a surprise to see the 24-year-old play the full 90 minutes against the Swans.

It remains to be seen if Daniel Farke will continue to trust the former Red Bull Salzburg star when the Yorkshire-based club host Luton Town at Elland Road on Wednesday [27 November].

In other Leeds United news, Gary Rowett, meanwhile, was blown away by this “sensational” Whites star on Sunday.
