Brenden Aaronson delivers ‘tough’ Leeds United verdict after first-team return
Brenden Aaronson has admitted that being reintegrated into the Leeds United first team was “tough” after spending the 2023/24 season away from Elland Road.
The West Yorkshire outfit have undergone a lot of change since the start of the summer transfer window with the re-addition of Aaronson – who spent last term on loan at Union Berlin – among those.
Speaking to LUTV after their 2-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday on 24 August, the United States opened up on his reintegration to the team.
“For sure. It was tough at first coming back, a lot of nerves, a lot of not being sure at moments but I couldn’t have asked for the reception that I have got and the guys and the team welcoming me back,” he said.
“It’s been really good and I know it’s going to be tough at first but I think with my mindset and my mentality, I am going to do the best I can and I think they know it too.”
Brenden Aaronson needs to step up for Leeds United this season
Leeds United have undergone a lot of change over the course of the summer transfer window and don’t look set to stop any time soon.
The club have lost the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter already which has heavily impacted their attacking strength.
While losing the duo isn’t the be-all and end-all, they are two massive names to replace and has left plenty of goals needing to be found this season.
Although Aaronson isn’t an exact replacement for either player, with his range of passing and his keen eye for goal, the American could find himself as one of the club’s most important players, especially if Wilfried Gnonto also departs [Sacha Tavolieri, 22 August].

The American has been quite heavily involved in both Daniel Farke’s pre-season and the club’s opening games, being deployed in both left-wing and attacking midfield.
His performance against the Owls, in which he scored the opener, is proof that he can be an extremely valuable asset in the Championship this season.
In other Leeds news, the Whites are set to complete the transfer of a Premier League ace on 25 August.
