Brenden Aaronson blasted after ‘stupid’ incident, Leeds United loan ‘didn’t work out’ so far
Brenden Aaronson’s loan from Leeds United to Union Berlin “didn’t work out” so far, according to Bild’s Berlin football reporter Paul Gorgas.
The 22-year-old is currently on a season-long loan at the Bundesliga club, making eight appearances since his move from Elland Road.
But Gorgas has blasted the American international for his “stupid” sending off in just the second league match of the season.
“I think the idea for him was to obviously get his time on the pitch and play and be a crucial part of the team and you have to say that didn’t work out so far,” Gorgas told Leeds Live. “I haven’t seen all the Union matches but from what I’ve seen, you can see he really has the technical ability and that sort of footballing quality that not many players have in the squad, just with how he handles the ball.
“You can also say he lacks a physical quality, he lacks the strong physical appearance that you need, especially in the Bundesliga because it’s quite a strong and physical league. You get the impression that he’s not up at that level physically.
“As well he was sent off in the second match of the season against Darmstadt, which wasn’t really clever. It was a stupid first yellow card for kicking the ball away which is punished with a yellow card this season and the other yellow card wasn’t too clever.”
Time to recover
Aaronson hasn’t had the best of times in Germany, but his team are not enjoying the best of seasons so far. It is, however, very early days, and indeed still early in the player’s career for him to learn from his mistakes, such as the red card against Darmstadt.
It really was an embarrassing moment for the attacker, who saw a second yellow card just 21 minutes into that game, not leaving a very good impression in his early stages.
Leeds boss Daniel Farke will undoubtedly be keeping an eye on the player’s progress in Germany, with his Elland Road future currently up in the air. But it isn’t over just yet, with a return to West Yorkshire set for the end of the season following his temporary switch.
He is one of several Whites men currently plying their trade away from the Championship club, with a huge summer coming up for all involved as they look to solve their futures at Elland Road.
In other Leeds United news, a silver lining has emerged as one Whites sensation is wanted by Premier League giants.
