Brendan Rodgers to sanction ‘surprise’ Leicester City bid for Leeds United star Jack Harrison

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is ready to sanction a “surprise” move for Leeds United winger Jack Harrison, according to Guardian USA (26 January, page 46).

The Foxes boss wants to freshen up the squad in January, and he has earmarked Harrison as an option.

The 26-year-old winger, who has only 18 months left on his current deal, is also wanted by Arsenal and Newcastle.

Unlikely

Leicester are long-term admirer of Harrison but it is unlikely that Leeds will sell him in January.

Phil Hay reported on 26 January that the club have placed a valuation in excess of £30m for the winger.

He is yet to sign a new deal at the club but Leeds want to tie him down to a new deal and keep him on long term. The club plan to hold talks with him at the end of the window.

Moreover, Leeds are unwilling to allow a player to join a club that are around them in the Lowe reaches of the Premier League.

Harrison is known for his work rate and industry but he has often been criticized for his lack of output. He also lacks consistency, which is really frustrating.

This season, he has managed one goal and four assists in the Premier League, and arguably played his best match against Cardiff City in the FA Cup clash at Elland Road this month.
