Brendan Rodgers gives honest verdict on Marcelo Bielsa Leeds United exit
Brendan Rodgers has held back no praise for former Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa following his departure from the club.
The Whites travel to the King Power Stadium tomorrow (March 5) for the first game of new boss Jesse Marsch’s tenure.
Rodgers slammed the “circus” that is modern day football for the Argentine’s departure.
He told Leicestershire Live: “It’s a big loss to the Premier League with Bielsa not being there as much for the human qualities he showed in his time here.
“The aftermath of him going won’t be easy for a number of weeks because, as I said, he was admired there by many.
“I was lucky enough to spend some time with him while he was here and I will always feel very privileged to have done that.

“In the modern game, which is a circus now, he brought what would be old school values to the game.
“The joy from watching him operate and not be taken in by everything that goes on around the modern game.
“For me, it was about watching his team and him was what a sense of what football used to be like.
“Just enjoyment, fun and always with respect and humility. He will be a loss.”
Hard.
It is still a tough one to take, to be honest. Leeds fans won’t understand the severity of Bielsa’s sacking until the new man in charge shows what he has to offer.
If Marsch comes in and gets the team performing straight away, it will undoubtedly ease the blow suffered in losing a club legend.
On the other hand, if there is very little change, the Bielsa faithful will make some noise.
At the end of the day, the most important thing is the club and staying in the Premier League.
Despite it being impossible to judge, a catalogue of battering’s in recent weeks was a new low for Bielsa and left serious question marks in terms of whether he could keep the Whites in the league.
The bottom line is he is a football great, one that will be dearly missed but the owners have to be trusted and Marsch is a very exciting appointment who can hopefully take the club to the next level.
