Bradford joint-manager Sellars held talks with Leeds loanee Stevens

Bradford City’s joint-manager Conor Sellars has revealed he’d held talks with Jordan Stevens with the Leeds United loanee struggling at Valley Parade.

Stevens, 20, spend the first half of the season in League One with Swindon but in January, he moved down to League Two to join Bradford on loan until the end of the campaign.

Since joining the Bantams, Stevens has made 10 appearances, playing in every match since his debut on January 23. However, he’s only earned one start in the league, which came in a defeat to Exeter last month.

Sellars has now seen some improvement from Stevens since discussing his underwhelming performances at Bradford.

“Obviously Jordan is a good player who made an impact in the last game. We’ve spoken about him needing to show more and he’s aware of that,” said Sellars, as quoted by BBC Radio Leeds broadcaster Adam Pope.

“I think he gave a good account of himself in the last game.

“A couple of deliveries he put in were really effective and Jordan has to keep working hard for these moments and that consistency.

“He’s still finding out the way we play and he has loads of potential.”

Make or break for Stevens?

Stevens will celebrate his 21st birthday later this month and is struggling to get a start in League Two.

That surely doesn’t bode too well for the youngster.

Marcelo Bielsa has handed young players a lot of chances to impress in the Leeds first-team during his time in charge.

Stevens has made six senior appearances for Leeds and was named on the bench a lot by Bielsa so it is odd to see him struggling in League One and League Two.

Could this loan spell at Bradford be make or break for Stevens in terms of his career at Leeds?

Let’s face it, he needs to be doing more in League Two than getting one start in 10 matches in order to show he could one day break into a Premier League matchday squad.

Stevens has versatility on his side but we’re just not seeing enough from him to show he can be a long-term player for the Whites.

Hopefully things pick up at Valley Parade but it doesn’t seem that promising just yet.

In other Leeds United news, this Leeds player is unlikely to get much more game-time this season.
