Bournemouth swoop in for Max Aarons at last minute as Leeds United miss out, says Phil Hay
Bournemouth have hijacked Max Aarons’ move to Leeds United, just as the player was set to undergo a medical ahead of joining the Whites from Norwich City, according to Phil Hay.
The Athletic journalist provided an update via Twitter (9 August) that a deal was in place between Leeds and Norwich for the transfer of Aarons, with the 23-year-old set to undergo his medical checks, but the transfer has now taken a dramatic twist.
Bournemouth have stepped in at the eleventh hour and the full-back is now seemingly set to move to the South Coast instead of West Yorkshire.
Wow
Supporters at Elland Road cannot catch a break right now. It seemed as if a deal was signed and sealed for the arrival of a much-needed defensive reinforcement, but a last-minute swoop from Premier League side Bournemouth has now left Leeds with egg on their face.
Daniel Farke will be furious as he will have expected this deal to have gotten across the line, with just formalities left to be agreed, and will be wondering exactly how this has been allowed to happen.

It is always painful when a transfer is hijacked, especially when a deal is as close as this one was, and Aarons will have now likely made a few thousand enemies in Leeds.
The club have no time to dwell though and must react fast in order to get some recruitments in with not long left in the summer transfer window.
Things will certainly be interesting the next time Bournemouth and Leeds meet on the pitch.
In other Leeds United news, the club could still sign another centre-back after the reported arrival of Joe Rodon.
