Bournemouth player opposed deadline day transfer to Leeds United in Luis Sinisterra deal

A Bournemouth player did not want to move to Leeds United which caused a deal in getting the Luis Sinisterra deal over the line, according to Graeme Bailey.

The 90Min journalist told the Talking Transfers podcast on 1 September that there was an unnamed Cherries player holding the deal back.

Leeds did not want the Colombian to leave without getting in a replacement and signed Jaidon Anthony.

Bailey said, “Bournemouth have come in with a loan deal with an option of £25million. They were trying to sign a player in the opposite direction. I didn’t get information on who that was but he didn’t want to go to Leeds apparently whoever that player was from Bournemouth which caused a bit of an issue.”

Not too bad

Sinisterra wanted to leave and after a certain point, there seemed to be nothing more than could’ve been done to keep him at the club.

Bournemouth came knocking late in the transfer window and this was a step that the Colombian wanted to take.

Leeds did not want to be hunting for a replacement in the final hours of the window so that’s why they turned to the Cherries to include one of their attackers in the deal.

Whether or not the player Bailey is talking about is Anthony is anyone’s guess, but the fact is that he ended up moving to Elland Road.

Keeping Wilfried Gnonto over Sinisterra is a coup as he’s always available and can even play up front unlike Sinisterra who’s faced injury issues.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites tabled multiple enquiries to sign a multi-million international winger ahead of the transfer deadline.
