Leeds United Super Fans blown away as club open talks for Farid Boulaya

This is part of a regular series from our panel of Leeds United Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our Leeds Insider Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Elland Road.

Leeds United are reportedly in talks with FC Metz for attacking midfielder Farid Boulaya.

French journalist Mohamed Toubache reported that the Whites are keen on the 28-year-old and could sign him for only £3.9million.

He also stated that two big clubs in Italy and Spain are keeping tabs on the Algeria international.

Toubache is a well respected journalist in France and is also followed by Fabrizio Romano which is quite a big seal of approval.

Boulaya’s agent spoke to LUFCFANZONE about the news breaking on Sunday afternoon, and refused to deny the news.

“All we can say at this moment is that we do not deny the links,” he told them.

While it may not be a confirmation, the news of the club being in talks with the player was enough to send the Leeds faithful into a frenzy.

Here’s what they said:

Good deal

Boulaye may not be a name that will send shivers down the spines of the Elland Road faithful, but he is a solid attacking midfielder capable of creating chances and finding the back of the net.

The Algerian scored six goals and registered eight assists in Ligue 1 last season.

He was also named the Player of the Month in January ahead of the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Memphis Depay.

Despite Metz not being an elite name in French football, the 28-year-old still managed to stand out – which is a good indicator of his capabilities.

He’s also a very hard-working player with and without the ball and we think he’ll be perfect for Marcelo Bielsa’s side next season.
