Boris Becker personally reaches out to Julian Nagelsmann after what he saw in Leeds draw vs Liverpool
Boris Becker was clearly impressed by Leeds United after what he saw in the 3-3 draw with Liverpool on Saturday.
Ao Tanaka scored a 95th-minute equaliser for Leeds as they held Arne Slot’s side to a draw at a packed-out Elland Road.
Liverpool raced into a 2-0 lead under the lights, but goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Anton Stach levelled the scores.
Dominik Szoboszlai put the visitors back in front with 10 minutes to go, before Tanaka fired home in the final seconds.
Boris Becker asks Anton Stach question to Julian Nagelsmann
Stach impressed again for Leeds against Liverpool, and the German received praise from a very unlikely source after the game.
Former Wimbledon champion and tennis great Boris Becker took to social media to highlight the midfielder’s performance on Saturday evening.
Becker even questioned whether Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann had scouted Stach or included him on the list of potential names for his next squad, tagging the national team boss in a post on X.
“Just watched Liverpool against Leeds,” Becker posted. “Leeds have a young German player playing for them, Anton Stach.
“Has Nagelsmann ever scouted him or even got him on the list?!”
Stach has featured for the German national team at the senior level before, making his debut back in 2022 against Israel under Hansi Flick.
The 27-year-old made his only other appearance against Italy in the same year and is yet to be called up by Nagelsmann.
Stach’s importance to Leeds cannot be understated
Since his summer move from Hoffenheim to Leeds, Stach has been superb and will be key to helping Farke’s side stay in the Premier League.
The German has stepped up in recent weeks as well, playing the full 90 minutes during the win against Chelsea and the draw with Liverpool, grabbing an assist and a goal respectively.
Following a positive week for Farke, Leeds have risen up and out of the Premier League relegation zone, and now sit 16th in the table.
The Whites are two points clear of the bottom three, and will look to stretch that margin over the next few games.
