Blow for Spurs as two more players a doubt for clash v Leeds – report

Tottenham Hotspur duo Lucas Moura and Carlos Vinicius are both doubts for Saturday’s game against Leeds United.

According to Football.London, the pair could both miss the game against Marcelo Bielsa’s side after failing to feature against Wolves last time out.

As per the report, Jose Mourinho has already confirmed that Gareth Bale will miss the game against the Whites, but no official decision has been made on the aforementioned Spurs pair as things stand.

Bale has been struggling with a calf injury and was forced off at half time during Tottenham’s League Cup victory against Championship side Stoke recently.

Spurs welcome Leeds to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium having previously laboured to a 1-1 draw against Wolves last time out.

Troubles down the right for Spurs

Tottenham have lined up in a variation of a 4-2-3-1 on 11 different occasions in the Premier League this season.

In this system, Son Heung-Min moves forward from the left to take up more advanced positions alongside Harry Kane and leaves either Lucas or Steven Bergwijn free on the right.

Kane and Son’s form has been so successful for Spurs this season but Mourinho’s men have struggled to replicate that on the right side.

Neither Lucas nor Bergwijn have consistently impressed in the Premier League – scoring just once between them.

Mourinho has at times preferred to utilise either Giovanni Lo Celso or Moussa Sissoko in a makeshift wide position on the right, to offer a more energetic and physical performance, such has been the club’s deficiencies on the side.

The former Manchester United boss will be well aware of the threats that Leeds can pose, so it could be a tactical tweak we see repeated this weekend.
