Marcelo Bielsa has remained largely tight-lipped about the prospect of Leeds United signing Michael Cuisance.
However, his comments today – which made mention of Dan James – all but confirms that the player is close to a Leeds switch.
Talking in his pre-match press conference on Thursday Bielsa said, “I would prefer to talk about him when he is officially our player. I don’t want to repeat the case of Dan James.”
Bielsa did not want to speak about the qualities of Bayern Munich midfielder Michael Cuisance until his signing has been confirmed. He wants to avoid a Dan James scenario from the Jan 2019 window. #lufc

Leeds fans won’t need reminding about what happened with Dan James.
He was practically a Leeds player with the deal all but signed back on deadline day in January 2019. He’d passed his medical at Thorp Arch and recorded his welcome video.
However, Swansea refused to sign off on the deal at the last minute and James stayed where he was. Leeds went on to miss out on promotion in the play-offs.
Bayern Munich midfielder Cuisance is expected to become a Leeds player after Fabrizio Romano reported that he had passed his medical and agreed a five-year deal.
However, it looks like the final paperwork is yet to be signed and Bielsa is erring on the side of caution.
There was no denial, though, and it certainly sounds as if it’s just a matter of time before Cuisance is unveiled, although his arrival will come too late for him to be involved in the game against Man City on Saturday.
We think he could be a very important signing for Leeds, with Pablo Hernandez struggling for regular fitness.
