Bielsa pays £150,000 for new Elland Road gym designed by wife

Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has parted with £150,000 for a gym to be installed at Elland Road so staff can keep fit, according to Daily Mail.

The state-of-the-art facility was designed by his architect wife, and staff are thrilled with it, with the Argentine keen to ensure they are well looked after.

The gym – situated next to the reception in the East Stand – features some weights, treadmills, bikes and rowing machines along with pictures of Yorkshire, and the club’s motto – Marching On Together – inscribed on one wall.

Bielsa is class, and it is no surprise to see him have a gym installed just for his staff.

He could have asked the Leeds board to build it, but he decided to fund it himself, and such a gesture speaks volumes.

The staff are equally as important as the players given the major roles they play in the running of the daily affairs behind the scenes, and taking care of them is paramount.

Recruiting the services of his wife for the job also underlines how loving and caring of a husband the Whites boss is. Bielsa has made Yorkshire his home, and he is giving back to the club in cash and kind.

Leeds have struggled to impress so far in 2021-22, winning just one Premier League game out of nine.

They face Arsenal in the League Cup last-16 on Tuesday and advancing to the quarter-finals could provide the playing staff with much-needed inspiration and boost going forward.
