Bielsa makes admission about Phillips injury after Leeds 1-0 win v Reading

Marcelo Bielsa has admitted that he is not sure of the severity of Kalvin Phillips’ injury after the Leeds United star was forced off in the win against Reading on Saturday.

Phillips, 24, was taken off in the 37th minute after suffering a leg injury in Leeds’ 1-0 win against the Royals at Elland Road.

The midfielder has been crucial to the Whites’ form this season and, understandably, fans are worried about losing one of their most influential players for an extended spell of time.

After the win, Bielsa is unsure how serious Phillips’ setback is and after the win.

“I think it’s a kick. I don’t know if it’s serious or not,” said Bielsa, as quoted by LeedsLive.

Phillips has been one of the stand-out players in the Championship this season and his return from suspension is arguably one of the key factors in Leeds’ current improvement.

It seemed that his three-match ban, and subsequent rest, made him perform better as he pulled the strings at Brentford and in the win against Bristol City.

However there were fears when he was taken off to be replaced by Ezgjan Alioski in the first half against Reading that Bielsa’s side’s performance would wane again.

Fortunately, that was not the case as the Yorkshire giants went on to grab all three points for a second match in a row.
