Marcelo Bielsa delivers three-word response when asked if Leeds will sign anyone today

It might be deadline day but don’t expect to see any tweets from Leeds United imploring you not to go to bed later on.

For starters, the domestic deadline is 5pm which will ensure the Sky Sports journos get an early night.

But there will be no more additions for Leeds in this window.

Marcelo Bielsa delivered a definitive three-word statement when asked if there would be any other additions today.

As quoted by Leeds Live from Thorp Arch Bielsa said, “No, sincerely not.”

Farewell Douglas and thanks for the effort

And, with that, and the news that Robbie Gotts (Lincoln) and Barry Douglas (Blackburn) have secured their loan moves away, the summer window is officially over for Leeds.

Bielsa paid tribute to Douglas saying, “He’s an impeccable professional. He’s a very respected member within the team.”

And that was reflected in a poignant open letter penned by Victor Orta.

It’s a hugely classy response from the club to a player who might not have delivered what was expected but always gave his all.

Bielsa and Orta both mentioned the Millwall game when Douglas played with a knee injury, setting up an equalising goal.

The only missing piece of the jigsaw in this window was a midfielder, after the transfer of Michael Cuisance collapsed.

Bielsa explained this saying, “Hernandez, Roberts, Rodrigo are options as attacking midfielders. Defensive midfielders we have Phillips, Pascal and Koch. Llorente eventually too. At eight we have Klich, Dallas, Shackleton and Alioski.”

It’s hard to argue against the depth that Leeds now have in the squad after spending almost £100m this summer.
