Bielsa delivers three-word response when asked to detail relationship with Lampard after Spygate
Marcelo Bielsa has swatted away questions about Spygate and his relationship with Frank Lampard ahead of Leeds United versus Chelsea this weekend.
Leeds face the Blues away at Stamford Bridge in an 8pm kick-off on Saturday in the first meeting between the two clubs in eight years.
Ahead of the game, a lot has been said about the old rivalry between Leeds and Chelsea during the Whites’ previous days in the Premier League while there’s also been the matter of Spygate to discuss.
Bielsa was heavily fined for sending a staff member to spy on Derby’s training ground while Lampard was in charge of the East Midlands club.
Ahead of Leeds’ trip to London this weekend, Bielsa was asked about his relationship with the Chelsea manager.
As quoted by LeedsLive, Bielsa said: “It’s not bad.”
He added: “The relationship with him is similar to those I have with all my other colleagues.”
Bielsa’s a man of few words when asked questions like this.
When he’s asked about something a bit deeper that is actually to do with football, he will respond and often give journalists a very long reply.
But clearly, Bielsa does not give much time to questions like this.
What’s his relationship supposed to be like with Lampard? Is he meant to hate him for calling him out on spying on rivals?
And even if there was tension between them, would Bielsa say anything to suggest that?
Since Leeds last played against a Lampard team when Derby beat them in the play-offs, is Bielsa likely to have spoken to the Chelsea boss since?
It doesn’t matter what the relationship is between Bielsa and Lampard, really.
