Beren Cross: Tottenham interest in Patrick Bamford not serious
Tottenham Hotspur are not particularly interested in signing Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford this summer, believes Beren Cross.
According to The Telegraph, the London side were contemplating a move for the Whites attacker given the uncertainty surrounding Harry Kane.
The reliable Leeds-based journalist, in a Q&A for LeedsLive, was asked by a fan whether the reported interest from Spurs in the England international was genuine.

To which he responded, “Not that I’m aware of.”
Good news
After enduring a torrid season for heavily under-performing on his Expected Goals (xG), Bamford silenced his critics last season and put himself in contention to make England’s Euro 2020 squad.
This turnaround in form was coupled with Marcelo Bielsa’s faith shown in him and now the Englishman has become one of the league’s most reliable strikers.

It’s no surprise that he’s linked with a move to Spurs, but given their situation, it’s ideal that he stays on at Elland Road where he’s appreciated by everyone and has the manager playing to his strengths to maximise his output.
By Cross’ assessment, their interest in the player is nothing serious so we shouldn’t be too worried about them pricing him away.
The best thing would be to put a new contract on the table for him as he’s one of our top players and we cannot risk losing him this summer or even at the end of the season as he’s in the final year of his deal at the club.
