Beren Cross shares what Leeds United need to buy in the summer
Leeds United need to sign players in at least three positions in the summer – and Jesse Marsch’s tactics could help them do so, according to Beren Cross.
The positions in question focus on where the club have suffered significantly with injury this season, as central midfield and striker are the first two the Leeds Live journalist mentions, along with left-back.
Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford have left gaping holes in the team through lengthy layoffs, and Junior Firpo is now out too after struggling in his debut season.

In a reply on his Leeds Live Q&A, Cross wrote: “Central midfielders are obviously a priority if they do stay up.
“Another striker would be welcome given Bamford’s fitness issues this season, while with Marsch playing two up top that could make it an easier sell for bringing names in.
“Another left-back would be nice too.”
Reinforcements
The team clearly is in dire need of strengthening, evening allowing for the injuries this season.
It is a surprise that centre back was not also on that list, since without captain Liam Cooper a revolving door of fill-ins such as Diego Llorente have struggled.
Talisman Phillips will surely stay if the club avoid relegation, but such is the importance of central midfield it will always be an area that can be improved.

Joe Gelhardt figures to be increasingly involved up top in future, and that’s a given if Bamford’s injury worries continue.
A proven goalscorer is arguably always the number one thing any team looks out for, so it will surely cost.
A report yesterday from Team Talk said that the club were extremely interested in Anderlecht left-back Sergio Gomez, so Victor Orta looks to be well down the line in finding a replacement for Firpo.
All of this is contingent on the club staying up, and that does look more likely than it did a couple of weeks ago.
In other Leeds United news, Simon Jordan hammered one Whites signing as evidence of no ambition at the club.
