Beren Cross shares if Leeds United included a buy option in Darko Gyabi Plymouth Argyle loan

Darko Gyabi’s loan move to Plymouth Argyle from Leeds United does not include any option to make the deal permanent, according to Beren Cross.

The Leeds Live journalist reported on Thursday (11 January) that the 19-year-old will not be able to feature against the Whites this season in either the league or the FA Cup as Leeds haven’t given Argyle permission to field him against his parent club.

Gyabi’s stay at Home Park will only be for the remainder of the Championship season as well initially as no option to buy was included in the temporary deal, meaning he will return to Elland Road come the end of the 2023/24 Championship campaign.

Could still feature

Gyabi’s Leeds United career has stalled ever so slightly this season. The 19-year-old made three appearances for the Whites last season, including one in the Premier League as they were relegated to the Championship under the management of Sam Allardyce.

However, he has been nothing more than a fringe player under Daniel Farke this season, making only two appearances, only one of which was in the Championship, a one-minute cameo from the bench against Ipswich Town back in August.

The teenager obviously has plenty of talent, otherwise he wouldn’t have spent so much of his career in the Manchester City youth system, but for whatever reason he hasn’t been able to demonstrate it in a Leeds United shirt.

Hopefully, a loan spell away from Elland Road will allow him the opportunity to get his career back on track and gain some valuable experience in England’s second tier which he can bring back to Thorp Arch come the end of the season.

Leeds appear to have been keen to not cut all ties with the midfielder this January, which would suggest that he could still have a future at Elland Road, even if he is not yet ready.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are reportedly interested in a potential loan move for a West Ham United defender
