Beren Cross: Leeds United are keeping an eye on Daniel James’ situation
Leeds United are keeping an eye on the situation of Manchester United winger Daniel James, claims Beren Cross.
The Wales international came very close to joining the Whites, but a failed deadline day move in 2019 saw him return to Swansea with his tail between his legs.
However, he earned himself a so-called bigger move that summer and joined Manchester United.

While Leeds have permanently signed Jack Harrison in this window and have also roped in Raphinha who’s hit the ground running in the Premier League.
Cross claims that he believes the Whites still continue to keep tabs on James, but they’re far away from making a bid for the player.
He told Wales Online, “Clearly they like Dan James and they have done for a long time, and I’m sure they would always have one eye on his situation but that’s a long way from actually going ahead and making a bid.”
“I’m sure Man United will be looking to make profit on him too, and I couldn’t see Leeds spending any more than £25m on James. I just don’t think that would fit with what they’ve done recently.
“Bielsa does have these long-term interests.”
Move on to better players
We’re sure that Bielsa saw something in James that suggested he would be a good fit for Leeds, but having watched him for two years at Manchester United in the Premier League, we don’t think he would’ve cut it at Elland Road.

Barring his work-rate there’s very little that the Welshman can offer and his end product is close to non-existent. He’s not a consistent performer and does tend to go missing in games for the Red Devils.
He could turn out to be a totally different player under a better manager at Leeds, but it’s not something we should be considering.
There are recent reports suggesting that Noa Lang could be available for a similar price and if we were Victor Orta, he would be the kind of player we would be looking to bring to the club.
James may have Premier League experience under his belt, but we certainly need someone with an end product and Lang fits the bill.
