Beren Cross: Adam Forshaw will be ‘desperate’ to start for Leeds United v Everton

Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw will be “desperate” for a start against Everton in the Premier League this afternoon.

That’s according to Leeds Live journalist Beren Cross, with the midfielder returning to his old stomping ground at Goodison Park.

Forshaw missed the Newcastle game through injury but returned for a spot on the bench in the 3-3 draw at Aston Villa in midweek.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Cross shared his expectations ahead of the trip to Goodison Park.

“Hard to expect too many changes after a performance like Wednesday’s when the squad remains the same,” he said.

“Forshaw will be desperate to play at his old stomping ground. Bielsa mentioned insufficient recovery time, but rotation feels unlikely.”

All eyes on Bielsa.

It was a major call from Marcelo Bielsa to leave Forshaw on the bench at Villa Park on Wednesday evening.

Our midfield looked very weak against Newcastle, but the decision was justified at times in the relentless draw.

There is an argument to say that Mateusz Klich lost his man twice when Jacob Ramsey burst into the final third in the first-half, something that may not have happened if Forshaw was there.

Robin Koch appears to have found a home, for now, ahead of Pascal Struijk and Diego Llorente, with consistency key for those three.

Klich did cramp up at the end of the draw with Villa, so that may be the logical switch if this decision is made.

One thing for sure, no one would massively complain if Forshaw was to come in at Goodison Park, he has been a revelation this season.
