Ben White comments on Leeds United fans and Elland Road
Arsenal defender Ben White has suggested that Elland Road, home of Leeds United, is still his favourite stadium.
The 23-year-old has made the claim while speaking to Arsenal’s official website. He has also described the Leeds fans as a “lively crowd.”
White spent a year on loan at Leeds during the 2019-20 campaign and helped Marcelo Bielsa’s side gain promotion to the Premier League.
Leeds did make several attempts to sign White after returning to the Premier League but couldn’t meet Brighton’s asking price.
This summer, White has secured a big-money move to Arsenal, with the Gunners paying £50 million for his signature.
“I’d probably say a full Leeds stadium,” said White.
“Obviously I played there two years ago. That was probably my first experience of a full stadium and a lively crowd.”
White, the £80,000-a-week wages defender [The Athletic], was outstanding during his loan spell at Elland Road, where he excelled under the watchful eye of Marcelo Bielsa.
He was impressive last season for Brighton and has deservedly secured a big-money move this summer.
While Whites has secured a big-money move and he is doing exceedingly well, Leeds probably won’t regret the decision for failing to sign him.
Leeds signed two fantastic defenders last summer in the form of Robin Koch and Diego Llorente, and though both of them have struggled badly with injuries, they have got undeniable qualities.
Elland Road is one of the oldest grounds in the country and it can produce an electrifying atmosphere.
Leeds fans are known to be very passionate about their club, and it seems White still has a fond memory of the stadium.
In other Leeds United news, Jim White & Simon Jordan have told this Whites star to ‘get on with it’ amid two-game ban fears.
