Ben Jacobs shares if Leeds United approach Bayern Munich to sign Chris Richards
Leeds United have reportedly not yet made an approach to Bayern Munich to sign their defender Chris Richards.
According to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, the 22-year-old is on Jesse Marsch’s radar but the interest is at a very primitive stage.
He can be used at full-back and the pursuit makes sense given the fact that Leeds are looking to sign a left-back this summer.
Via Twitter, Jacobs wrote, “Logic of Richards from Marsch’s perspective is he can be used at full-back. Leeds ideally want another left-back. Richards is primarily a centre-back, though, and I am told Leeds haven’t yet made any Bayern approach. One to watch given Leeds love signing Americans these days!”

He’s played only a handful games for Bayern and is unlikely to break into their first team any time soon, given the number of world class players in that squad.
If he wants to play regularly and take his game to the next level, it would make sense for him to play regularly.
At Leeds, he will get the chance to do precisely that as Junior Firpo has struggled in his first season and there is a dire need of another player in that position.
Richards is a centre-back by trade so can fill in at the heart of defence whenever needed as well.
Charlie Cresswell left on loan so that leaves the club a player shy and in signing Richards they could get two for one.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that a midfielder who was admired by Marcelo Bielsa is set to leave this summer.
