Ben Foster in ‘miserable’ Leeds verdict after what happened away from Elland Road

Leeds United and Brentford played out a boring game in the Premier League on Sunday, Ben Foster says.

The former goalkeeper feels the Whites may be gutted not to have got the three points, as Daniel Farke’s team were held off at the Gtech Community Stadium on 14 December.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin secured a 1-1 draw for Leeds in the 82nd minute after Jordan Henderson gave the Bees the lead.

While the draw will nevertheless be massive for the West Yorkshire outfit, the three points were there for the taking.

Leeds United much better than Brentford

Foster claims Leeds’ game against Brentford was “miserable” at times, but the visitors were still worthy of winning the game.

The ex-West Brom and Watford goalkeeper believes the Whites showed enough away from Elland Road to get a victory in West London.

As things stand, the Peacocks are 17th in the Premier League, sitting three points above 18th-place West Ham United.

Speaking on The Cycling GK on 15 December, Foster said: “This was a miserable game at times, it really was. This was my Sunday highlight game, and it kind of failed a little bit, to be honest. It was a little bit boring to be perfectly honest.”

The Englishman added: “Massive result for Leeds. And Leeds are good, you know. Leeds were the better team. They were much better than Brentford. Leeds will be gutted they haven’t got three points here.”

Calvert-Lewin may have an outside chance of making England’s World Cup squad, but for now, fans in LS11 will be happy to see him find the back of the net consistently.

Premier League relegation chance predicted at Elland Road

Farke is embroiled in a relegation battle at Elland Road, but the German manager will hope their home form gets them out of it.

Leeds secured another critical point at the Gtech Community Stadium, and the current one-point-per-game ratio may be enough for them to survive the drop.

Bottom five in the Premier League

Opta’s supercomputer has given the Whites a narrow chance of avoiding relegation as they’ve been predicted to finish 17th.

There’s still a 40.72 per cent chance of dropping down to the Championship, making reinforcements in the winter transfer window an undoubted priority.
